Invisible, Unbreakable, and Unnatural: Waterkeeper Alliance Publishes National PFAS Sampling Report

Oct 28, 2022

Contamination from PFAS chemicals, often called forever chemicals becuse of their persistence in the environment, is a growing concern for both rivers and communities around the country. We partnered with Waterkeeper Alliance and more than 100 Waterkeeper groups to conduct one of the largest PFAS sampling efforts in the country.

The sampling showed a startling amount of contamination across waterbodies (83% of the samples showed detection of at least one PFAS compound). Our sampling of the Lower Saluda detected between seven and thirteen different PFAS compounds at sites along the river.
