SC Supreme Court Rules on CWS Attorney's Fees

Court denies polluter recovery of legal fees associated with Congaree Riverkeeper lawsuit.
We spent years in court fighting to end Carolina Water Service's pollution of the Lower Saluda River, eventually prevailing in our lawsuit and eliminating the discharge from the I-20 wastewater plant.
And when CWS tried to pass the cost of their illegal pollution on to their customers and stick them with a $400,000+ legal bill, we stepped up again; testifying to the Public Service Commission and filing an Amicus Brief with the SC Supreme Court.
Yesterday, the South Carolina Supreme Court affirmed the PSC ruling that denied recovery of the legal fees associated with the federal lawsuit that Congaree Riverkeeper brought against CWS.
This was not only a win for the ratepayers, but an important message to polluters that we'll fight to hold them accountable.
